Sue Monk Kidd was born in the 12th of August, 1948 in Sylvester, Georgia. She was desire to write since she was very young, her writing talent appeal when she was 13 years old.

The author of “The Secret Life of Bees” is Sue Monk Kidd. “The Secret Life of Bees” was the first book that Sue has ever written when she was in Sylvester, Georgia, USA. She graduated from Texas Christian University. She enrolled writing classes at the ago of 30, her intention was to write fiction, but then she changed her mind and began a career as a freelancer.

“The Secret Life of Bees” was written over three years and a half. It was played on stage in New York, by the American Place Theater and also adapted into movie by Fox Searchlight.

Her first novel, “The Secret Life of Bees” was published by Viking in 2002, it became a genuine literary phenomenon. The book has sold over 6 millions copies, sent over 2 and a half years on the New York Time’s best-seller list and been published in 35 countries. It was awarded the 2004 Book Sense Paperback book of the year and other grand prizes. The book is taught widely in high schools and college classrooms, the novel quickly became the modern classic. Also, “The Secret Life of Bees” has made into a motion picture in 2008. Main roles played by Hollywood little star Dakota Fanning, Jenifer Hudson, and Queen Latifah, and it won the People’s Choice and the NAACP Image awards for Best Picture.

Kidd’s new book, Traveling with Pomegranates, co-authored with her daughter Ann, is a mother daughter travel memoir due out in 2009.
